Community Economy
An economy centered on ethical consideration. A space of decision making where we recognize and negotiate our interdependence with other humans, other species, and our environment.
Barter
The exchange of goods or services for other goods or services without using money.
Co-Op
Cooperatives are people-centered enterprises owned, controlled and run by and for their members to realize their common economic, social, and cultural needs and aspirations.
Mutual Aid
A voluntary reciprocal exchange of resources and services for mutual benefit. Mutual aid is “cooperation for the sake of the common good.” It’s getting people to come together to meet each other’s needs, recognizing that as humans, our survival is dependent on one another.
Solidarity Economy
The concept of solidarity economy has diverse origins and varied meanings, all of which revolve around the effort to root economic activity in principles of solidarity, participation, cooperation, and reciprocity as opposed to the competitive individualism characteristic of mainstream capitalist paradigms.
